It's
been said that moving is one of life's top ten stressful events. A
MOVER brings you these tips to keep
you off the list, make your move less stressful, and perhaps even enjoyable.
First,
a little about us. We are a family run business with 20+ years experience--primarily
performing residential and office moves. Our crew is picked for more than
a strong back--they enjoy working with the public, have common sense and put
up with a flexible work schedule.
Building
positive relationships with clients is paramount. We have thrived for the
last 20 years by providing conscientious customer service. We want you to
rely on us for your moving needs now and tomorrow. We are ready to move you
from packing to moving to unpacking.
The
following tips will make for a smooth move, and allow us to perform at our
highest efficiency:
- Clean out
debris in your garage, etc., prior to your move. Before our arrival is the
time to do that spring-cleaning you've been avoiding.
- Pack your
goods in sealed boxes--tape them shut with packing tape (top and bottom).
This allows maximum use of truck space as well as safe transport of your
goods. Be sure that fragile items are wrapped in paper or bubble wrap. PLEASE
DON'T USE BAGS. Bags are impossible to load safely and waste a lot of space
and time. (You can purchase packing materials from us in advance.)
- Use the right
sized box. Small boxes are good for books, records, and dishes. Large boxes
are best suited for linens, oversized items, etc. Extremely heavy boxes
are unsafe. Lampshades are best packed in one large box.
- Label boxes--fragile,
bedroom, kid's room, kitchen, etc. In a multi-room house put a Post-it near
the room's entry identifying what goods should go where. This allows us
to operate with a minimum of direction from you.
- Reserve elevators,
etc., with your building manager well in advance. Notify us ahead of time
of special building requirements.
- If parking
is at a premium, "reserve" a space close to your door by parking there the
night before. This can be a real time saver.
- Your new
phone number should be connected the morning of your move. The old one
should be disconnected the following morning. This allows either party
to contact the other in case of delays, etc.
- Personal items
that you will need immediately at your new location, i.e., medications,
checks, work clothes, should be packed separately. It is best if you transport
this box so that you know where it is.
- Soft goods,
i.e., clothing, can remain in drawers. Breakables should be packed. Wardrobes
are provided for use during your move--clothing can remain hanging in closets.
- Don't water
plants right before your move--seeping pots damage goods.
- Young children
and pets are best left with a sitter during the move. They will be safer
and less stressed.
